Chocolate Cups

April 7, 2020

Today, I would like share with you how to make chocolate cups. Making them is a fun activity for kids and adults. Your kids will love painting with chocolate. I asked my daughter to help me to make chocolate cups and she could not believe we can paint with chocolate. In the chocolate cups you can serve fruits, ice cream, candy, make jelly and lots more of your choice.

  • candy melts (colours of your choice) from Wilton (can be found at Walmart, Michaels and other craft stores) or chopped chocolate.

  • Small cupcake cups (preferably the silicone variety).

  • Small, clean paint brush or spoon.

How to make chocolate cups

Step 1. Melt your chocolate (if you have few colours, melt each colour in different bowl).

Step 2. Take a paint brush and paint the insides of silicone cupcake liners with melted chocolate. I chose to use a mix of white, dark and pink chocolate for my cups. You can use whatever kind of chocolate you like. Once the chocolate is painted all over the silicone liners, refrigerate them for 10 minutes or until chocolate is hard.

Step 3. Paint the second thin layer of chocolate on top of the first layer. You can paint as many layers as you want your cup to be strong (I painted two times). Put the chocolate cup in the fridge between you apply each layer.

Step 4. Carefully pop the chocolate cups out of the liners.

Step 5. Fill up your chocolate cups with fruit, ice cream, jelly, candy or anything you like!

Note: Silicone cupcake liners are much easier to work with than paper ones as you can easily pull the chocolate cup away from the silicone. Be sure to cover the whole surface area of the silicone cups, including the sides, so there aren't any holes. Please do not use brush that has ever had paint on it. Chocolate cups can be stored at room temperature just like you would store a bar of chocolate.

Don’t use white chocolate with food coloring because after you melt candy and add food color, the chocolate gets too thick and hard to use. The chocolate candy will not melt any more.
