Inspired Art

Romero Britto is a famous artist from Brazil. In his work, he uses vibrant colors and bold patterns as a visual expression of hope, dreams and happiness.

Exposing children, even at a young age, to famous artwork is a great way to inspire them. We see them do this in their play on a daily basis, playing games based on TV shows or movies, drawing their favourite characters, or cooking in the kitchen like "Mom and Dad." Britto's art is appealing to children, because of the bright colours and patterns and cartoony aspects of it.

You can show them pictures online of some of his work and then get your brightest markers and make art like it. You can cut out patterned paper (or gift wrap) and glue it onto the paper to mimic his patterns. And, of course, there is no reason to just use Britto. He's just one of my favourites from my home country of Brazil.
