Puffy Paint

Well, there’s still a little snow left, but I’m positive we will see grass and our driveways any time now. So here’s another activity for all ages, and a fun reason to get out and enjoy the nice weather. This activity encourages using your imagination while getting creative..

This is another activity that I am dying to try. I love art and this is a way for me to get c[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"></v:path> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="officeArt_x0020_object" o:spid="_x0000_s1026" type="#_x0000_t75" style='position:absolute;margin-left:229.5pt;margin-top:130.75pt; width:153pt;height:211.55pt;z-index:251659264;visibility:visible; mso-wrap-style:square;mso-wrap-distance-left:12pt;mso-wrap-distance-top:12pt; mso-wrap-distance-right:12pt;mso-wrap-distance-bottom:12pt; mso-position-horizontal:absolute;mso-position-horizontal-relative:page; mso-position-vertical:absolute;mso-position-vertical-relative:page' wrapcoords="0 0 21607 0 21607 21621 0 21621 0 0" strokeweight="1pt"> <v:stroke miterlimit="4"></v:stroke> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\STAFF~1.LAP\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.png" o:title=""></v:imagedata> <w:wrap type="through" anchorx="page" anchory="page"></w:wrap> </v:shape><![endif][if !vml][endif]reative with my children, have fun and get away from the negative feelings and effects of this pandemic.

Not only is this art but it’s also science… Why does the paint get puffy? What happens when I mix purple with gold? If I add too much flour, soap or water, what happens? These are all ways to interact with your children, open up their minds and do some detective work:)

Heres what you will need:

1 cup flour

1 cup water

1 tbsp dish soap ( any brand or type will do)

5-10 drops of food colouring or washable paint

squeeze bottles to put paint into(amount of bottles-depends on how many colours you want)

How to Make Puffy Sidewalk Paint:

In a large bowl stir together the flour and water until there is no lumps.

Add the dish soap to the flour mixture

Mix in the food colouring of your choice until you reach the desired colour

Pour the mixture into the squeeze bottle

If you are making multiple colours, make each colour in a different bowl or one at a time, then pour into the bottles. Keep in mind that this recipe does not save well, so the paint should be used the same day made, it will explode if left closed.

Now all thats left is to grab your paint, head outdoors and start getting creative. Remember to have fun, while staying safe.
