Viennese Waffles
One of the great ways to spend with your child is to cook together. They love activities in the kitchen, because they can use all their senses. Cooking can help your child develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, as well as early concepts of math and science. But the most important thing is to have fun with your child while cooking!
Here is the recipe of Viennese waffles that I made this morning with my daughter.
Ingredients (4 person)
Sugar 100 g
Milk 250 ml (I use 3.2 % fat milk)
Butter 50 g
Dry yeast 1.5 teaspoon
Wheat Flour 150 g
2 eggs
1 pinch of salt
Separate egg whites from egg yolks. In a medium size bowl beat the egg yolks with 85 g of sugar. Melt butter and add it to the yolks. Add warm milk, dry yeast, and the flour and mix well, making sure there are no lumps. Set the batter aside and let it rise for 30 min
Whisk the egg whites with rest of sugar (15 g) to stiff peaks. Add the egg whites into the batter until a smooth and airy consistency is achieved.
Preheat your waffle maker to desired temperature. Ladle the batter into a preheated waffle maker. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
